2026 – THE YEAR OF THE CULTURE OF THE RUSSIAN NORTH

The biography of the Russian North is shrouded in the romance of the ages, from the earliest chronicle records to the present day. There are many legends about the strength of spirit, endurance, diligence, intelligence, and inner beauty of the northerners. But, if you think about it, there is no fiction in these stories — it’s all true, illuminated by the enchanting white nights and the unique expressiveness of the Pomor language.

The Educational Resources Hall (room 2309) invites readers to explore the exhibition of printed materials “THE BRIGHT COLORS OF THE NORTH, THE MELODIOUS WORD OF THE NORTH…”. The books on display, selected from the Scientific Library’s collection, will introduce readers to the history and cultural heritage, traditions, and modernity of the North.

We invite you to visit; the exhibition will run until the end of September.
